Why create a ProVelo team? For us, it was about living out two of the core values we hold at the RCA: community and personal growth. On the community side, having an elite-level domestic team allows our members to rally behind something tangible. Now, the brand they wear when training is the same one competing at a high level. It’s about giving everyone a team to cheer for - a reason to feel more connected.

On personal growth, it’s not just about our members - it’s also about our team. Ryan, as head coach, is also the team manager. Running the ProVelo team gives him a chance to grow, learn, and expand his coaching experience in the racing world. We also have two staff members - Craig Wiggins, our social media manager, and Dylan Procter-Parker, our community manager -who both have racing ambitions. For Craig, it’s about making the most of his racing years while he can, and for Dylan, it’s about chasing the dream of racing overseas in the future. The team is a platform for their growth, too.

With purpose set, we built the team. Ryan leveraged his Queensland cycling connections to form a squad of seven competitive riders. Meanwhile, I tapped into my relationships - built through my YouTube channel - to secure sponsors. Our key partners include BikesOnline, Insta360, Creative Carbon Wheels, Favero Assioma, with a number of smaller partners such as Fixx Nutrition, Prungo, TrainingPeaks, Stannards Accountants & OneKloudX. Together, we’ve assembled a fully supported team ready for the Australian domestic season.
